David

David is one of those people in the Bible that as we get to know him, we get to know God. And what is refreshing to read is that God lived in David, even though David was far from perfect. He was a flawed, fallible human. David was a warrior, king and poet, along with being an adulterer and a murderer. In fact, we probably know more about David and the details of his life than any other Bible character. His life takes up 60 chapters of the Old Testament, and spans 4 different books. The details of his life and career are mostly recorded in I and II Samuel. However, the psalms are filled with the details of David’s innermost thoughts and feelings told to us by him. Perhaps, the most important evidence of David’s significance is the royal lineage that continues in the New Testament as Jesus claims his identity as Israel’s Messiah. And yet, David is still playing with the same deck of cards you and I do as we go through our days.
