“Digging for Love”
Over the years, I have vacationed several times at the beach in the summer with my father. One thing you need to know about my dad. He likes to cover up at the beach. If he doesn’t, he is going to be like a red lobster. Thankfully, I am blessed to have my late mother’s Italian skin. I don’t burn, I just brown. Not so with dad. And so, he makes sure that just about every inch of himself is not exposed to the heat of sun. He wears a shirt, a hat (with flaps down the back), a gaiter scarf, and with a towel over his legs and feet. He also makes sure that he is wearing sunblock 50, which I think may be the equivalent of wet cement. And then to top it all off, my dad sits under an umbrella.

Now, the insertion of the umbrella pole into the sand is something that NASA would be proud of. There is the preparation of the location, a shovel, an auger, and then, lots of deep digging. In the end, an umbrella emerges out of the sand that I don’t believe hurricane force winds would be able to displace.
Here is a question for you. Can you name one thing that you can be thankful for?  If you can’t think of anything, then start digging. Why? Well, the truth is, we have so many things to be thankful for. One thing I know we can all be thankful for is the depths of God’s love. It goes deeper than my father could ever dig in the sand to put his umbrella. In fact, the depths of God’s love for you and me, -- is beyond what we might ever hope or imagine.

Please join us for worship this Sunday at either 8:00 am or 10:30 am (Zoom, Facebook Live, Youtube at 10:30 am) as we explore the depths of God’s love, and we can go deeper in our relationship with him.
