The Song of Christmas”
Last Sunday, we had around 50 carolers hop the bus here at Chestnut Level, in order to travel and raise our voices in joy as we visited some of our senior adult and homebound church members. We sang Christmas songs of both the silly and the sacred and we had a wonderful time together, and each one that we visited truly appreciated our Christmas song gift to them.
The song the angels sang that first Christmas was a song of good news. They sang, “Today in the city of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. . . . Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors.” There is a good reason why the angels could sing this song. The Infinite had become the definite. Christ left heaven and came to earth, — and that is Good News for you and me. The God of the wonders, beyond our galaxies has come to be with us.
Will you sing with the choirs of angels this Christmas? This is no ordinary song we’re singing. We sing about a God who has come into this world with power and glory. We sing about a baby named Jesus who is the Messiah, who has come to transform lives and change them forever. We have the greatest message ever to roll off the tongues of people. Accept Jesus Christ as your Savior your life will light up with a smile of a million sunrises. May we sing this song this Christmas and every day.
Merry Christmas,
Pastor John
Quote of the Week
You can never truly enjoy Christmas until you can look up into the Father’s face and tell him you have received his Christmas gift.”
